The
Bute Time Bank has been developing at a pace since
its launch on 31st January last year. Lorraine Harverson,
Time Broker, is in the process of establishing the
membership by seeing interested people individually
and recording the skills and favours they wish to
offer to other people and also the needs each individual
has – or skills they seek - whereby they can use
the time credits they earn.
Bute
is without
doubt an ideal community for a time bank to flourish
as its inhabitants already volunteer and give help
to the community as a whole and to specific causes
in various capacities. However, the reciprocal system
of timebanking can help to close gaps also in a
strong community.
We
often find it hard to ask for help for ourselves,
and with the Time Bank you can actually call the
Time Broker and ask for help through the membership.
It
is expected that the Bank will be starting to operate
from late May.
